Christie Sides has updated Indiana Fever fans on the injury suffered by Caitlin Clark who has endured a tough start to her WNBA career this season.

The Fever have played 11 games in 20 days and that taxing schedule, as well as the low morale caused by their poor form, is starting to impact on the players.

Clark came off during the recent match against the New York Liberty with what seemed to be an ear injury, which may be a surprise given how harshly she has been treated by some opponents. The assumption would have been an impact injury.

Sides mentioned that Clark is currently being evaluated for her ear and while there isn’t a final diagnosis, she said “There’s something going on with her ear,” per Matthew Byrne on X.

The Fever need a rest

Luckily for the Fever, there is now a five-day rest coming before they are next due on the court but they will want Clark to be available.

Sides recently spoke about how tough it has been for Clark given her immense reputation since arriving in the WNBA.

“The whole 40 minutes [Clark] is in the game – on both ends – she’s getting beat up,” Sides said.

“She keeps fighting.I just feel like we need to get the same calls that they’re getting on the other end. We’re just not getting those same calls. I’m going to fight like hell for them.”

Clark herself also spoke about how the season is panning out, saying: “I think at times there are ways I can probably channel it a little better, but that’s just basketball at the end of the day.”

“That’s never going to change. I’m never going to lose that. I feel like I’m getting hammered.”
