Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez managed to defeat Jaime Munguia, revalidating his middleweight title and perhaps becoming the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.

One of the attendees at the packed T-Mobile Arena was David Benavidez, who for many is the opponent who can dethrone Canelo.

“I don’t know right now. I want to rest, enjoy my family. But you know, if the money is right, I can fight right now, I don’t give a sh*t. I’ve fought everybody they say I don’t want to face, I’ve fought all of them. I can do what I want, I’m Mexican,” Canelo said when questioned about a possible fight against Benavidez.

But before those statements and although it went unnoticed by the vast majority of spectators, Canelo spotted Benavidez in the stands and made a provocative gesture.

He turned to look at the place where Benavidez was, although he showed a certain irony. Canelo invited Benavidez into the ring, albeit with a derisive laugh and without saying a word. Benavidez only raised his hands as if asking what to do.

This action by the Jalisco native has sparked rumors on social networks that the fight everyone wants to see could take place on the weekend of Mexico’s Independence Day, next September.
