Canelo Alvarez just announced the exact date in which he plans to retire: ‘I need to enjoy life’

Mexican Middleweight king, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is getting ready to fight light middleweight king Jermell Charlo. A fight that is taking place in Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on September 30. This past week, both fighters started promoting the fight with a series of media events where they spoke to the press. During one of the exchanges, Alvarez made a revelation that we all wondered about for years. How much longer will Canelo Alvarez fight? Is a retirement possibl ein the near future for the Mexican boxing champ? This is exactly what Canelo Alvarez responded and he didn’t beat around the bush. Canelo knows his level of boxing has an expiration date.

When will Canelo Alvarez retire?

Alvarez reveale he is not getting any younger and he has already discussed his potential retirement with the people closets to him. After almost 18 years as a pro boxer, Alvarez also wants to enjoy retirement with his family. This is what he responded during a recent appearance in The Breakfast Club: “I think I at least have four more years in me, maybe five. I’ve been a professional boxer since I was 15 years of age. That is almost 18 years fighting professionally. I always said I would retire when I was 36 or 37, around that age. That should be more than enough, it’s so many years boxing. By then, I will have accomplished many things and then I will have to enjoy life with the family and all.”

This means that Alvarez thinks he can continue fighting at the top of his game until he is at least 37 or 38 years old. When that time comes, there are still a few objectives that Canelo will want to fulfill. But looking at this statement from him, getting him to be part of the current clebrity and retired boxing fights will be difficult. If Jake Paul wants to fight Canelo, he needs to continue training and catch him during his final years as a pro boxer.
