After a review by VAR, Chelsea have been awarded a penalty for a tackle by Eze on Madueke.

A rare chance for Palace sees the ball fall to Olise and he fires an effort towards goal. Chelsea’s Petrovic does well to get down and beat the ball away for a corner.

The Senegalese forward finds the back of the net with a tidy finish but it’s ruled out for offside by VAR.

Jackson thought he’d made amends for his miss moments before however the video assistant referee said otherwise. Gutting.

What a miss from the Chelsea forward! It’s a great run and brilliant pass from Gallagher to find him and put him 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper.

However, he places his effort just wide of the goal and fails to give Chelsea the advantage.

Armando Broja and Noni Madueke replace Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk.

The hosts are in control of this one now but are still struggling to create any clear-cut opportunities.

However, the crowd are growing a bit restless here and you wonder if Palace could catch them on the counter. Tense, to say the least.

It’s fair to say that Chelsea have been the better side but this Palace team certainly have the talent to hurt the Blues.

Both managers will likely want to see improvements from their respective sides… but will they?

Michael Olise snatches an equaliser in stoppage time of the first-half with a superb touch-and-finish!

Hodgson will be delighted with that.

Gary O’Neil’s side are now 3-1 up after a frantic start to the match.

Mudryk has now scored 2 goals in his last 3 games for Chelsea. The Ukrainian is starting to love life in west London.

What an opportunity for the French forward! Chelsea produce a lethal counter-attack to unleash Jackson, who rolls the ball into Nkunku’s path.

He only has the keeper to beat but goes down after some very slight contact with the defender. The referee waves play on and VAR has nothing else to say on the matter.

Beautiful stuff from Chelsea as Mudryk finds himself through on goal once again but this time he can’t beat Henderson in the Palace net.

Brilliant save from the Eagles goalkeeper to keep the score at 1-0.

In an absolutely frantic first 15 minutes at the GTech Community Stadium, Wolves have taken a 2-1 lead.

They scored their first through Mario Lemina in the 13th minute before Hee-Chan Hwang added a second just one minute later.

Yoanne Wissa then pulled one back in the 16th minute to cap off the chaotic opening quarter.

The Ukrainian opens the scoring with a fine finish from close range to give them the lead inside the opening 15 minutes of the game.

It’s the exact start that Pochettino would’ve wanted for his side and another big moment for the winger.

Agonisingly close for the French full-back! He finds himself through on goal and pokes an effort at goal but Henderson gets enough on it to slow it down and a defender can clear.

Roy Hodgson will be encouraged by the start his side have made here. They’ve managed to control a lot of the opening proceedings in west London.

Stats have revealed Chelsea lead in the big chances missed chart as their woful season continued on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were defeated 2-1 by Wolves at the Molineux – their eighth loss from 18 Premier League matches.

The Blues were made to pay for missing gilt-edged opportunities before the hosts punished them by scoring twice to claim victory in the Midlands.

Meanwhile, over at the GTech Community Stadium, Brentford host Wolves in a clash that could have a big effect on the bottom half of the table.

If the hosts win, they can potentially overtake Chelsea in 11th meanwhile Gary O’Neil’s side can move up to tenth.

The Bees haven’t claimed victory over the visitors since September 2021 but will be hoping that changes tonight.

Tonight’s Premier League encounter sees two London sides that are both desperate for a win after disappointing displays before Christmas.

Pochettino’s Chelsea fell to an underwhelming 2-1 defeat to Wolves while Palace were held to a 1-1 draw with Brighton, as their search for a league win continues.

As it stands, Roy Hodgson’s Eagles are just three points above the drop and will be desperate to pick up a win this evening.

Meanwhile, the Blues sit 11th in the table and remain some way of achieving a European position. A win tonight would take them as high as tenth, overtaking Bournemouth.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson lumped praise on several key players, including Michael Olise, who starred for Palace last week against Brighton, setting up Jordan Ayew who put the Eagles a goal up.

‘We’ve been blessed with Wilfried [Zaha] over the years, but now we have Olise and also Eberechi Eze — two players who can do that job and get the crowd buzzing,’ Hodgson said.

Mauricio Pochettino admitted that the Chelsea job has been harder than he thought, going into their clash against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Approaching the halfway stage of the season, Chelsea have lost eight of their 18 Premier League games this season and defeat at Wolves on Christmas Eve means they have just 22 points so far.

‘We knew it was going to be tough this year but never (this tough),’ said Pochettino. ‘Because of all the circumstances (injuries and suspensions), it makes the situation worse. We have too many important players out and too many circumstances going on from the start of the season that is out of our hands. But at the same time, it’s a good challenge,’ the Argentinian added.
