There is no question that San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has already etched his name into the NFL history books.

On Sunday, the 27-year-old put his name next to Hall of Famers John Riggins and O.J. Simpson as the only players to have achieved a 15-game touchdown streak, including both regular season and playoff contests.

The latest addition to McCaffrey’s illustrious streak came in a Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

On a play-action shovel pass from quarterback Brock Purdy, McCaffrey covered 13 yards to reach the end zone, securing a 7-0 lead for the 49ers.

McCaffrey’s touchdown streak has played a pivotal role in San Francisco’s impressive 15-game regular season winning streak, currently the longest active streak in the NFL.

McCaffrey eyes all-time TD record

This streak also bears historical significance for the 49ers.

The last time the team witnessed a 15-game regular season winning streak was during the 1989 and 1990 seasons, led by the legendary Joe Montana, who eventually guided the team to Super Bowl glory.

With 15 consecutive games scoring under his belt, McCaffrey is now just one step away from claiming the all-time record, which currently belongs to Baltimore Colts running back Lenny Moore (17 games in a row from 1963-1964).

McCaffrey’s journey with the 49ers has been nothing short of electrifying. Since his midseason trade to San Francisco last year, he’s been a touchdown machine, and a significant factor in the team’s status as one of the two remaining undefeated NFL squads entering Week 6.

Looking ahead at the 49ers opponents and taking into consideration the team’s prolific offense, the continuation of McCaffrey’s touchdown streak seems almost guaranteed with games against the Vikings and Bengals if the running back continues to stay healthy.
