UFC fighter Colby Covington has continued to disparage Leon Edwards’ late father by making an extraordinary comparison between him and Adolf Hitler.

Covington and Edwards came to blows in the pre-fight press conference over controversial comments made by Covington about his opponent’s parent, with a furious Edwards launching a bottle at the outspoken 35-year-old.

The Englishman had the last laugh, though, as he did his talking inside the octagon, beating Covington by unanimous decision. All three judges scored the fight 49-46 in his favour, meaning he retained the UFC welterweight title.

But, despite their rivalry in the octagon seemingly concluding after the fight, Covington has continued to make horrific comments about Edwards and his family.

Covington’s verbal attack continues

Appearing on the PBD podcast, he was asked by host Patrick Bet-David whether he was doubling down on his comments about his father, who was shot dead when he was a youngster.

“I’m doubling down,” Covington replied. “Why would I feel bad for anything I say about someone who is a criminal and put so much pain in people’s lives?

“So I’m not going to feel bad for someone like that just like Hitler, he was a terrible person.”

When asked by Bet-David if he was “comparing his [Edwards’] dad to Hitler?”, the American responded: “I’m not comparing him to Hitler but I’m saying he’s at the same level of bad guy.”

Covington, who also claimed the judges scoring the fight hated him because he supports Donald Trump, initially alleged that Edwards’ father was a ‘sex trafficker and drug lord’.

“What about all the victims of the harm that Leon’s father did to them? He was a sex trafficker, he was a drug lord, he killed people, the guy’s a scumbag, why would I feel bad for that, I have no sympathy for that guy,” he previously said.

“What about all the victims’ families who have to live on right now, live through all the things that he did to them, how he tormented those people?

“So, no I don’t feel bad for him, the truth hurts and that’s why people hate me, I’m not afraid to say the truth and the truth is what always stings the worst.”
