Aaron Rodgers missing the rest of the season due to a complete Achilles rupture has left the New York Jets in a tight situation. They don’t have too many options of players who can actually replace the veteran QB at a similar level of performance. But there are some free agents who could be considered to replace him. One of them reportedly reached out to the Jets through his agents, you might be familiar with his story. His name is Colin Kaepernick. The same quarterback who was completely ostracized by the entire league after his public displays against the National Anthem while protesting police brutality against African Americans in the country. He has been getting ready ever since he stopped playing in the league and has been waiting for his opportunity.

For years, Colin Kaepernick has been asking for one chance to prove he still has what it takes to play in the NFL. However, no team wants to go through the media frenesi that would be created if one of the most controversial figures in the sport’s recent history returned to the game. If Colin Kaepernick returned to play, the media would definitely have a field day and he would be targetted at all times by them. NFL insider Jordan Schultz just reported he’s been talking with Colin personally and said this: “I just spoke with Colin Kaepernick, who tells me his agent has reached out to the #Jets about his desire to make an NFL return. Kaepernick remains on the West Coast working out.” Colin himself said that all he wants is that one shot at redemption.

Other QB free agents who could replace Aaron Rodgers

But Colin Kaepernick is only one of the options the New York Jets have to replace Aaron Rodgers. There is a list of free agents who are also very talented and many of them also veterans like Kaepernick. the list consists on Matthew Stafford, who is no longer part of the Rams’ long-term plans. Joe Flacco is another veteran and familiar face who spent the last 3 years with the Jets. There are also Nick Foles, Jameis Winston, Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, and Phillip Rivers. Before you start throwing the big name around, we gotta tell you that Tom Brady is currently not an option. He is 100% retired and not looking to make a sensational return to the sport he loves so much. The best options are Stafford and believe it or not, Colin Kaepernick.
