A Wakefield comedian has made a parody song dedicated to the city he loves.
@christycoysh uploaded the song, a parody of Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em, to his Instagram account. The video features Christy, dressed in a cowboy hat, dancing in front of a green screen while views of the city appear behind him.
In the song, he talks about some of the town’s best features, including the three Greggs stores they have in the city, their newly extended Wetherspoon pub and of course, Wakey Wines.

He also references Wakefield’s famous prison “Monster Mansion”, the city’s links to rhubarb growing and its legendary nightclub Popworld. Christy also sings about the “city’s queen” Jane McDonald and the cheap price of a pint in the city.
