The Dallas Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 1990s, yet they remain one of the most talked about franchises in all of sport.
Despite trading for Trey Lance in the closing weeks of the off-season, America’s Team remain committed to Dak Prescott as their starting quarterback once the 2023 campaign begins.
With that in mind, Prescott has revealed a slight trick that he hopes will guide him and Dallas to the Super Bowl this season.
Dak Prescott received motivation from an ex-military ranger
The Cowboys begin their season on September 10 in New York, where they are set to face an ever-improving Giants team, however they are approaching the fixture with significant confidence in their own chances of success.
Prescott is no different. He has looked for additional motivation before the 2023 campaign and appears to have found it through an ex-military ranger.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein, Prescott took part in a workshop with a former military ranger.
The main theme of the retreat was ‘February 11, 2024’ with the date almost serving as a cult-like mantra.
That particular date is exactly when the Super Bowl is scheduled to take place. It served as the cornerstone for what has been described as a three-day mental performance workshop.
Dak Prescott wants to be mentally stronger
Prescott was the driving force behind the process. He was keen on the team developing a sense of mental strength that has perhaps eluded them in recent years.
We all remember the chaotic scenes as the clock ran down in the Cowboys‘ playoff defeat to the 49ers in 2022, when Prescott himself was anything but composed.
He doesn’t want to risk a repeat of such an incident, especially when the Santa Clara outfit has eliminated the Cowboys from the post-season in the last two years.
“It doesn’t mean anything if guys aren’t telling us what they’re sacrificing or what they’re trying to get better at, and if other guys aren’t holding them to that,” Prescott explained when asked about the retreat.
