Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was greeted by Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins at Paycor Stadium ahead of Sunday Night Football in his return to the venue where he nearly died back in January.
Hamlin, 25, went into cardiac arrest after receiving a hit to the chest by Higgins in the late part of last season. The safety was hospitalized, but eventually made a full recovery.

He has only played one game this season and again was inactive against Cincy. Hamlin remains a part of the 53-man roster despite lack of playing time.
The first player to greet Hamlin was Bengals WR Tyler Boyd, a fellow University of Pittsburgh alum.

Hamlin announced he will be giving $1,000 scholarships to 10 students in the Cincinnati area for the next three years in name of the 10 medical workers who saved his life.
“I’m humbled by the opportunity to set up a scholarship program to honor this team of professionals – my Cincinnati heroes – who helped save my life,” Hamlin said in a released statement. “Today, as I look at honoring these Cincinnati heroes and lifting up young people who are trying to find their way, I’m reminded of the enormous blessing I’ve been given through my charity and the generosity of people around the world.”
Hamlin, who established his foundation while in college, has always been philanthropic, even before the accident.
