During the UFC 295 postfight press conference on Saturday at Madison Square Garden, UFC president Dana White gave a reporter the “dumbest question of the night award, all for suggesting a co-promotion bout between Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones.
The reporter asked White if he would ever consider joining forces with PFL to make the heavyweight clash a reality, to which the UFC boss responded by saying they tried to make the fight happen, but Ngannou refused. When the journalist said if any co-promotion event was off the table, Dana went off on him.
“It’s a stupid question, but go ahead, talk to me,” White said. “Why would I do that? I tried to make the fight here. [Ngannou] didn’t want to do it. But I should co-promote with like a Bellator or PFL? Why should I do that? Talk to me.”
The reporter answered by saying the event could be a partnership with ESPN to make all MMA fans who want an Ngannou-Jones fight happy.
“Cus of ESPN? You win the dumb question of the night,” White said. “Congratulations, sir.”
Dana White walks out with Donald Trump, Kid Rock
White walked out to UFC 295 right before the main event alongside former President Donald Trump and musician Kid Rock.
The crowd erupted in cheers when the trio walked out in what looked like a heavyweight fighter making his cagewalk.
Trump was shown on the broadcast multiple times and mouthed “thank you” as the crowd cheered each time.
They all sat cageside together, which has become a common occurrence, to witness Alex Pereira defeat Jiri Prochazka to clinch a championship belt in a second division.
