Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is feeling pretty confident about his quarterback situation for the upcoming 2024 season, and for good reason. His son, Shedeur, will once again be leading the charge for the Buffaloes.

During a press conference this week, Sanders addressed various topics related to his football team, including his son’s potential as a professional player. He didn’t hold back in expressing his belief that Shedeur would have been a highly sought-after draft pick if he had chosen to enter the NFL draft this year.

Deion Sanders got Shedeur Sanders ambushed in public in crazy recruiting story

“Shedeur – let’s just get this straight. Let’s get the elephant in the room. Shedeur would have been a high draft pick this year,” Sanders asserted, as reported by On3. “Let’s just stop the foolishness and you get mad when I tell you.”

Sanders was quick to clarify that his statement wasn’t merely a bold prediction. He emphasized that his insight into Shedeur’s potential stemmed from his extensive connections within the NFL, built over the course of his own impressive playing career.

“The only reason I know that is because don’t you think I know people in the NFL? I’m sorry. I played for how many years, 14? Got a gold jacket at the crib, I think. I think I know some people. You know, the Jerry Jones’, Arthur Blanks. I know some people in the game – the Roger Goodells. I know some people. So, when I speak, I’m not just throwing stuff out of my head. I’m throwing stuff based on knowledge.”

He can be a first-round pick in 2025

Despite Colorado’s 4-8 record in the previous season, Shedeur showcased remarkable skill on the field, amassing impressive statistics with 3,230 passing yards and 27 touchdowns, while maintaining a completion rate of 69.3 percent.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, if Shedeur can replicate or even surpass his previous performance, it’s highly likely that he will attract significant attention from NFL teams and potentially become a first-round draft pick in 2025.

Sanders’ unwavering confidence in his son’s abilities as a quarterback is evident, and it’s clear that he believes Shedeur has what it takes to excel at the professional level. With such high expectations and a proud father leading the way, all eyes will undoubtedly be on Shedeur as he gears up for the 2024 season.
