The recipient (or you) could feast on pesto pasta made tableside at Sydney’s two-
hatted waterfront Italian diner a’Mare, or take a seat in veteran restaurateur Andrew McConnell’s opulent Euro-inspired beauty, Gimlet, at Melbourne’s Cavendish House.

Sydneysiders could also try legendary fine-diners such as Quay and Firedoor, or stalwarts such as Ho Jiak and 10 William Street, while Melburnians can use the card at heavy hitters including Attica and Cafe Di Stasio, plus buzzy joints like Maha and Old Palm Liquor.

Maybe you’re going on a regional road trip? You can use the gift card at hatted Thai diner Paste in Mittagong, NSW, or Hogget Kitchen at Victoria’s Warragul.

The card’s accepted in other states too, including Brisbane’s best, such as Levantine stunner Gerard’s Bistro. In Tasmania, you can drop the card at The Agrarian Kitchen Restaurant; in Adelaide spots include Soi 38; and in WA, you can use the card at Perth wine bar Wines of While and at Cowaramup winery Vasse Felix.

How does the Good Food Gift Card work?

The gift card can go straight through a restaurant’s Eftpos terminal – venue staff simply enter the card value into the terminal, and swipe or tap the gift card, and the money is taken off the bill. You don’t need to spend the full balance of the card in one go, any remaining balance is yours to use as long as it’s valid.

The white-and-gold card is fee-free, so every dollar spent on the card goes to the restaurant. Some restaurants may charge you for using the card and such fees may be deducted from the balance of your card at the time of the transaction.

You can register your card here, meaning if you lose it, and it still has credit on it, you can get a replacement card. You can check your card’s balance here.

How long is the card valid?

Three years, which is plenty of time to consider which of the 800 restaurants across Australia to visit next.

Where can I buy the gift card?

Pick up a card at most major retailers, including Coles, Woolworths, Big W and Target, as well as The Store, which sells other Good Food merch including caps and Good Food Guides. The card is also available digitally, meaning you can grab one as a last-minute present for a food-lover in your life.
