Dmitry Bivol, the man who forced Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to his second career defeat, has shared his prediction for Canelo’s upcoming undisputed title defense against Jermell Charlo.

The latter is a champion at 154lbs and will move up two weight classes for this challenge, adding to the intrigue of the fight. He has been out of the ring for 16 months due to a serious hand injury.

It’s going to be an interesting fight,” Bivol wrote on social media.

“I think Canelo should win. But I will be happy if Charlo wins. I am interested in a unification fight at 168.”

Bivol, who defeated Canelo by unanimous decision last year, revealed his pick on social media. Bivol’s strong jab, excellent fundamentals, and larger size contributed to his victory over Canelo.

This defeat was only the second in Canelo‘s storied career and his first in nearly a decade, with Floyd Mayweather being the only other fighter to defeat him back in 2013.

There had been ongoing discussions about a potential Canelo vs. Bivol rematch, but disputes over purses and weight class ultimately derailed those plans.

Bivol‘s recent comments indicate his interest in pursuing more belts and building his legacy, potentially in the super-middleweight division, rather than defending his own 175lb belt in a rematch with Canelo.

However, before any rematch with Bivol, Canelo must first face the challenge presented by Charlo, who is determined to win.
