Former US president Donald Trump has blamed Megan Rapinoe for the USWNT‘s penalty shootout loss to Sweden at the Women’s World Cup.

The two figures have clashed in the past and Trump used her spot kick – which flew high and wide – to criticize the footballer and to make a point about American politics in general.

Megan Rapinoe reflects on her legacy: “I’ve tried to make the world a better place”

Donald Trump’s reaction to the USMNT’s World Cup elimination

The ex-president took to Truth Social to voice his criticism and to attack Joe Biden at the same time.

“The ‘shocking and totally unexpected’ loss by the US Women’s Soccer Team to Sweden is fully emblematic of what is happening to the our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden,” Trump wrote.

“Many of our players were openly hostile to America.

“No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close.

“WOKE EQUALS FAILURE.

“Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA.”

The feud between Donald Trump and Megan Rapinoe

This message seemed to be quite obvious revenge for how critical the USA captain was always of Donald Trump‘s administration.

In fact, in 2019, the national team refused to make the traditional visit of the champions to the White House.

“Your message is excluding people that look like me,” Rapinoe said at the time.

“You’re excluding people of color, you’re excluding Americans that maybe support you.”

The player has always been a defender of LGTBQ+ rights, something that did not please the former president.
