Europe edged closer to retaking the Ryder Cup after ending Saturday’s action with a 10.5-5.5 lead.
The advantage is significant in that no side has ever come back from five down to win in the 96-year history of the event.

The home side dominated the morning alternate-shot foursomes, winning 3-1 to extend their lead to 9.5-2.5.
Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg were the big story, winning each of the first four holes against Brooks Koepka and Scottie Scheffler.
In fact, they were up five after seven and then took the next four holes to end the match. The Americans didn’t win a single hole, making it the largest margin of victory in an 18-hole match of any format at the Ryder Cup.
Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood added another point by taking down Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, while Brian Harman and Max Homa delivered the USA’s first full point with victory over Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka.
Jon Rahm and Tyrell Hatton held off Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele to win the final match of the morning.
USA keep things interesting in the 2023 Ryder Cup
Despite their struggles in the morning, the USA took the final session 3-1 to cut the deficit to 10.5-5.5 heading into Sunday’s action.
The session saw Cantlay win the last two holes with birdies to eke out another point for the Americans, and swing some momentum in their favor.
However, the performance drew boos from the fans after Cantlay celebrated with his caddie. The rest of the American players celebrated by waving their caps in the air, a reference to the fact that reports suggest he is refusing to wear one because he isn’t getting paid to do so at the contest.
McIlroy wasn’t pleased Cantlay‘s caddie walked on his putting line, though the two later appeared to talk and hash things outs.
