Eurovision viewers have been left with ‘goose bumps’ after watching Ireland’s ‘artistically perfect horror movie’ entry. Singer Bambie Thug secured a place in Saturday’s (May 11) grand final thanks to their ‘jaw dropping’ show at the semi-final on Tuesday.
The performance sees the Cork-born singer, 31, belt out their song Doomsday Blue while dressed as a “goth gremlin goblin witch”. And now, Bambie Thug’s electro-metal anthem is among the favourites to win.
Ireland’s 2024 entry marks the first time since 2018 that the country has qualified for the contest’s grand final. Ireland has not won since 1996 with Eimear Quinn’s The Voice.
Bambie Thug’s Eurovision Song Content entry has been described by many as ‘jaw dropping’, ‘artistically perfect’ and ‘terrifying’ all at the same time. Within 24 hours, a video of the performance on YouTube has gone viral, gaining almost one million views already.
In the comment section, Komocity269 declared: “When Eurovision has better horror genre than Netflix.” A second admitted: “When I say my jaw was on the floor…” A third confessed: “Peed my pants but it was totally worth it.”
ThanasisKiouseloglou penned: “As if a horror movie was shot live right in front of our eyes! Unbelievable!” Celtico09 stated: “I can say that this becomes one of the most artistic and memorable presentations in the history of the Eurovision.”
Sarantis1995 wrote: “The dark horse of this year’s contest for sure.” Maniakaga joked: “The psychologist won’t believe me.” Helreir quipped: “Is this is okay if my books start flying when this song plays.”
