There were 83,000 fans at MetLife Stadium on Monday night, with the majority of them New York Jets fans who were excited to start a new era with Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback.

However, the veteran suffered an injury – a suspected Achilles tendon rupture – in the first quarter of the game and his season, and possibly his career, could be over.

Among the spectators was YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul, who even met and shook hands with Rodgers before the game.

The Jake Paul sports curse

The fact that Jake Paul interacted with Rodgers just moments before his fateful injury has led NFL fans to label him as cursed.

“That dap up was a curse from the start,” wrote one user on Twitter.

“I’m not a Jets fan, but I genuinely blame Jake Paul for Aaron‘s injury,” added another.

This isn’t the first time that Jake Paul has seemingly cursed a sports team. Last year, Liverpool fans felt the Reds’ performances slipped after the American started supporting them.

The Jake Paul curse vs the Drake curse

This has also brought up comparisons to rapper Drake, who famously makes high-profile bets and often loses.

In fact, Drake has even lost money on Jake Paul fights in the past.

After Monday night’s Rodgers injury, some on social media started comparing the two celebrities.

“Forget about the Drake curse, the Jake Paul curse really is worse, it’s just nobody talks about it,” stated one Twitter user.
