Fiorentina have dismissed Manchester United‘s initial loan offer for Sofyan Amrabat because the club want a guaranteed permanent fee for the midfielder.

The Premier League giants have been admiring Amrabat for the majority of the summer but face the prospect of needing to sell members of Erik ten Hag’s squad before bringing in more reinforcements.

A lack of departures means United are chasing alternative deal options with a proposed loan deal being made to Fiorentina for the Morocco international.

Recent developments saw United make a £1.7m loan offer for Amrabat that was quickly rejected by the Serie A side.

Fiorentina are willing to consider a loan deal with United as talks continue, but want an obligation to buy at the end of the deal to be included in a bid to secure a return on investment.

That gives the Premier League giants hope that an agreement will be possible but face a race against time before the transfer window shuts on Friday.

Amrabat is keen to move to Old Trafford and has stopped training with the Fiorentina first-team in an effort to push through a deal as a matter of urgency.

The 27-year-old is currently training alone but is expected to be reintegrated back into Vincenzo Italiano’s side if a transfer fails to materialise.

The defensive midfielder shone for Morocco during their journey to the World Cup semi-final in Qatar last year and has since attracted plenty of interest from top European clubs.

His current contract expires next year but has an option to be extended for another 12 months.

Liverpool were previously interested in Amrabat but United are in the driving seat for the player.

Meanwhile, United are looking to make space in their midfield ranks by offering out-of-favour Donny van de Beek to Ligue 1 side Lorient on a temporary deal.
