The situation escalated on Friday evening when Davis issued a threat to physically confront his former mentor, indicating a desire to knock Mayweather out upon their next encounter.

This contention stems from Davis‘s frustrations, notably referencing a prior jail sentence he faced due to a hit-and-run incident in 2020.
How did the relationship crumble?
The relationship between Davis and Mayweather has been tumultuous despite their professional ties, with Davis having fought under Mayweather Promotions for a significant portion of his career.
However, strains emerged as early as 2017 when Davis attained world champion status. In late 2022, Davis severed ties with Mayweather Promotions after his bout with Rolly Romero, opting to pursue an independent path under the counsel of Al Haymon.
Initially, the split appeared amicable, but tensions resurfaced leading up to Davis‘s match against Ryan Garcia in April 2023.
Davis accused Mayweather of restricting his access to the Mayweather gym, a venue crucial for his training camps. Despite an apparent reconciliation evidenced by Mayweather‘s presence at Davis‘s victorious fight against Garcia, animosity has resurfaced.
Recently, Mayweather critiqued modern fighters’ preoccupation with superficial aspects of fame and wealth, which Davis perceived as a veiled attack directed at him. In retaliation, Davis lambasted Mayweather on social media, alleging financial improprieties and labeling him a “hater.”
“N***a says all this bulls**, but [he’s] in Dubai and can’t leave because he’s been taking n***as’ money and not doing what they paid him to do. N***a a f***ing hater,” Davis posted.
This public spat reflects an ongoing rift between Mayweather and Davis, manifesting in a series of confrontational exchanges across various online platforms.
