Josh Giddey can’t catch a break. Whether in stadiums or on random podcasts on the internet, the Oklahoma City Thunder forward continues to feel hostility from people because of the alleged inappropriate relationship he had with an underage girl.
While the police investigation into the case continues, Giddey and the Thunder visited the Toyota Center to face the Houston Rockets. Throughout the match, the player was booed by the crowd every time he touched the ball.
Giddey tried not to let the boos intimidate him, and he scored six points in the first eight minutes of play. In the end, the Australian contributed eight points, went 3-11 in field goals, won four rebounds, distributed six assists, and stole a ball.
In the end, the Thunder lost 101-110 and suffered their seventh setback in exchange for 13 wins. In their next match, OKC will host the Golden State Warriors. Rockets evened their record at 9-9, and in their next game, they visit the Denver Nuggets.
Giddey is not safe even from her colleagues
In the most recent episode of his podcast “The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone,”Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverly decided to tell an anecdote from his adolescence.
In a pickup game in high school, Beverly ended up scoring the winning basket over his defender, a grown man. Amid the euphoria, the player threw the word “b*tch” in his opponent’s face.
Not caring that he was a teenager, the man reacted by knocking Beverly out. As soon as he heard the end of the anecdote, his co-host, Adam Ferrone, did not miss the opportunity to launch a barb against the OKC forward: “A grown man hitting someone underage, who does he think he is, Josh Giddey?”
Although Pat laughed at the quip, he immediately tried to get back to the topic of his anecdote, but the damage had already been done.
Progress in the Giddey case
The Newport Beach police, where the relationship between Giddey and teenager Liv Cook would have occurred, continues the investigation. However, the minor’s family has refused to cooperate with the authorities.
According to the most recent revelations, the relationship was very short-lived and occurred two years ago, when Giddey was 19 and Cook was 15.
The NBA is also investigating the case but is focusing more on how the videos and photos that serve as evidence against the player reached social media.
