A hot air balloon took a few people by surprise in Doncaster earlier today.

It is understood to have appeared in Sir Nigel Gresley Square to promote the city’s upcoming balloon festival. It is hoped hot air balloons will be able to be seen far and wide when the event takes place at Town Moor Avenue.

Doncaster Balloon Festival 2024 will be happening on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20. Weather permitting, there will be ascents as well as tethered balloon displays, trade tents and lots of food and drink stalls.
