Now it is official: Lionel Messi is a new Inter Miami player and will join the club for the 2023 season.

In a brief 30-second video, the Florida MLS team announced the signing of ‘La Pulga’, who passed his medical exams in the morning.

“Yes, guys, see you in Miami,” were the brief words of the 36-year-old Argentine at the DRV PNK Stadium.

With this, the Argentine is officially an Inter Miami player, so he has already put himself under the orders of Tata Martino.

Messi will be presented to the Florida fans tomorrow in an event you can follow with our coverage here on MARCA.

Inter Miami vs Cruz Azul: When is Messi’s debut?

In order for Messi to sign with Inter Miami, the club had to free up a Designated Player spot, which resulted in Rodolfo Pizarro being let go.

With the departure of the Mexican, the Florida club was able to finalize Messi‘s signing. They will look to get him on the field in the Leagues Cup, where they will open the competition against Cruz Azul.

If Tata Martino wants, Messi could be included in the squad for the match, which is scheduled to take place next Friday, July 21 at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

The Leagues Cup match will feature two teams that are struggling at the moment. On the one hand, Inter Miami have gone five games without a win and sit bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference.

On the other side, Cruz Azul started the Liga MX Apertura 2023 with three defeats, the only club without a win that caused alarm bells to go off in La Noria.
