Ipswich Town fan Nina Battle has had her 2024/25 season ticket renewed for free, with Sky Bet covering the cost, to celebrate the club’s return to the Premier League.

Lifelong Town fan, Nina, was nominated by Ipswich Town to receive the reward from Sky Bet due to her special connection with the club – a connection which stretches back over 40 years since attending her first home match in the 1980s.

The club has played an important role in Nina’s life, as she regularly attended home games together with her late husband, Gary, who sadly passed away earlier this season.

Despite falling ill, Gary continued to attend games with Nina right up until the end of his life. Their fellow supporters and Ipswich Town club staff provided both support and memorable moments on and off the pitch, keeping their spirits high during the difficult time.

To celebrate Town’s return to the top tier of English football and recognise Nina’s special relationship with her club, Sky Bet will deliver the reward alongside Ipswich Town and the EFL, as part of it’s ‘For The Fans’ campaign, which champions the modern football fan and fan culture while aiming to make their matchday experience better.

On receiving the news Nina said: “Supporting Ipswich means companionship and friendship. It’s really important to me at the moment. I have had a difficult year. I sadly I lost my [husband] Gary on April 5 to a brain tumour.

“Gary lived, ate, and slept Ipswich. It’s always been a roller coaster of emotions. We’ve been up, we’ve been down, I’ve thrown the cushion at the telly. You name it, we’ve done it. Now look at us, we’re back where we belong. 29,000 fans on average at every game, it’s amazing. I’m amazed and so thankful. Gary would be buzzing!”

Also speaking about the ‘For The Fans’ campaign, Sky Bet spokesperson, Daniel Sales, hailed Nina as a ‘shining example’ of football fan culture in the UK:

“Our For The Fans campaign is all about rewarding the best of what UK football fan culture has to offer and Nina is a shining example of this,” said Sales.

“Her relationship with Ipswich Town and the wider fan community is what makes football so great. We’re delighted to be able to recognise this and cover her season ticket for 2024/25.”
