Over the last few days, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s former trainer Javier Mendez allegedly stated his greatest pupil from American Kickboxing Academy was back on the mats. He supposedly said that every time Khabib returned to train with him, that meant he was more than likely going to fight in an event. This sparked rumors of Khabib potentially going back to the limelight at UFC 300 and people started going crazy online. To many, Nrmagomedov is the UFC GOAT with an impeccable 29-0 record. He was already inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame back in 2022. There are videos of Khabib training with Mendez that are fairly recent but the coach wanted to clarify the footage.

Is Khabib making a comeback to UFC 300?
Amid all the rumors swirling around, Mendez felt the need to clarify the reality of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s visit to his former coach. He said: “I’m just letting you guys know that, you know, stop all this nonsense [on the internet] regarding Khabib [coming back to the UFC] and me and him training,” Mendez said. “There’s been no such thing happening. We’re not discussing training. We never have. Khabib is still devoted to what he said [about not fighting again]. He’s devoted his time to his family. He’s not working people’s corners. He’s not gonna ever fight. To my knowledge, it has never been spoken about.”
Now that we can put those rumors to rest, a sense of uncertainty remains as the UFC 300 card doesn’t seem like it will be a massive event as UFC 100 and UFC 200 were in their time. Dana White has been getting a lot of flak lately for not being able to secure bigger names for what should be his biggest event of 2024. We are about to experience UFC 297 and the UFC 300 card is still looking quite lacking to most MMA fans. Hey Dana, what gives?!
