The owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, is very clear about the only place he is interested in having his team play internationally, and that is Mexico City.

Following a meeting with NFL owners on Wednesday, Jones spoke to the media about some topics, including the league’s approval of a regular-season game in 2024 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the league’s first game in South America.

Savage fight breaks out between Cowboys and Eagles fans: “Getting whooped on and off the field”

In that regard, Jones said the Cowboys are not thinking about heading south next season, as it would require the team to give up a home game. “I am very reluctant to move a home game from here to there,” he said.

“We have a lot of fans. It fits for a lot of clubs, it doesn’t fit for the Cowboys as much. We got the highest attendance in the NFL, of course. When we don’t have a game here, it makes a big difference.”

Mexico City, Jerry Jones’ favorite international destination

While he has no interest in taking the Cowboys to the South America, the place that is of interest to Jones is Mexico, where the Cowboys organization has a large fan base that generates revenue both overseas and in Texas.

“Mexico City is good and close. If I’m going international, I want to play in Mexico City. Mainly because of our fans and our following and the affinity that we get here back home in the United States,” said Jones.

“When we go there on any basis, we increase the affinity for the Cowboys with our hispanic fan base in the United States. That’s where we want to be.”

Jerry Jones did not close the door on being a visiting team for an international game, although the league has not scheduled the Cowboys overseas since their only overseas game in London in November 2014, when Jacksonville was the home team.
