Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs took to X (Twitter) on Saturday to slam the NFL for fining him $21,855 over a questionable “unneccesary roughness” call during the team’s Week 9 win against the New York Giants. Retired defensive end JJ Watt echoed the sentiment.

Jacobs, 25, received the largest fine of the week for lowering his helmet to initiate contact, a point of emphasis by league commissioner Roger Goodell in the 2023 NFL season. The issue with the penalty is that it’s a football play.

“NFL, ya’ll gotta chill with the [bulls–t],” Jacobs tweeted.

Jacobs recently signed a contract extension with the Raiders worth a reported $12 million and he has had to fight for every last penny.

Getting fined nearly $22K for essentially executing a rushing attempt in the same manner as most of the league is enough to boil anyone’s blood.

JJ Watt plans to address NFL ‘stealing money’

Watt, 34, was among those who voiced their displeasure with the amount of fines the NFL keeps handing to its players, especially over soft hits.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year is now a part of the CBS broadcast booth for Sunday football and he plans on addressing the NFL “stealing money.”

“We’re gonna have an honest conversation tomorrow on our CBS pre-game show about these fines,” Watt tweeted. “I’m all for making the game safer, I’m all for fining plays that are intentfully malicious, I’m all for protecting players. But we are STEALING MONEY from players for playing football.”

Chicago Bears running back D’Onta Foreman — who is on a one-year, $2 million deal — was fined over $43,000 for lowering his helmet before contact last week.
