Conor McGregor has been told to “shut the f*** up” by Joe Rogan in an expletive-filled rant after suggesting it was more difficult to prepare for his film debut than a UFC fight.

McGregor made his big screen debut in a reboot of Road House, starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, reprising the role of Knox in the remake of the 1989 film.

The former UFC star, who stepped away from mixed martial arts in 2021 to embrace his new celebrity status after a career-threatening injury, admitted he struggled with the demands of being a full-time actor.

The Irishman was putting in exhausting 18-hour days and working his own brutal stunts, leading McGregor to conclude that acting more draining than training for a fight.

“It’s time consuming, and it’s not just action and fighting and stunts, it’s also remembering the line and you have to time things correctly, you’re engaging with another person,” he told JOE.

“It’s just a difficult game, a lot more difficult than I gave it credit for.”

But McGregor‘s remarks triggered a foul-mouthed response from Rogan, who questioned McGregor‘s comments by comparing his film role to a rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“Listen to me, that’s not true. That’s not true, even for him,” Rogan said on a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Podcast.

“Act in Road House or fight Khabib again? Shut the f*** up, that’s crazy talk, it’s crazy talk.

“He broke his f***ing leg in a fight. That’s harder, that’s way harder than f***ing acting.”

McGregor puts his theory to the test

As it turns out, McGregor looks increasingly likely to make his return to the UFC octagon against Michael Chandler later this year after talks with UFC president Dana White.

The 35-year-old has not fought since July 2021 when he broke his leg in round one against Dustin Poirier. But he has been teasing a return in the summer against Chandler, 37, after they coached on The Ultimate Fighter last year.

Asked about his UFC return, he recently said: “[I have] a few fights left on my contract, hopefully this year we can do this. We’re still in the first quarter of 2024, so there’s a lot of time left.”
