On June 7, some of the biggest stars in Tinseltown showed up and showed out at the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Among them, iconic musician Kelly Clarkson was a vision in pink as she accepted the Daytime Talk Series award for “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Reactions to her look varied, with some expressing disdain and others complimenting her.

The “A Moment Like This” singer adorned a striking fuchsia dress accented with a mid-length cape and distinct shoulder pads.

Adding more flare to her ensemble, Clarkson accessorized with stunning rings and glamorous silver and pink diamond earrings. She fashioned her brunette locks into a chic chiffon bun, ditching her bangs and leaving only a few loose wisps of hair to frame her face.

Capturing her triumphant win, Clarkson took to Instagram to share a photo of her holding her Emmy while she was surrounded by her “The Kelly Clarkson Show” team.

“Thank you @daytimeemmys and thank you to my entire team at the @kellyclarksonshow. I have the best team so thankful we won Best Daytime Talk Show!!” she captioned her post.

Upon seeing pictures of Clarkson, many had a lot to say about her outfit and hair. Some felt that the star’s look was unflattering and outdated. “That dress is not very flattering ! But I love her! Congrats Kelly!” wrote an Instagrammer.

Regarding the 42-year-old’s hair, another social media user criticized, “Fire the [hairstylist]. [Makes] her look like a 50yo auntie😢.” Similarly, another echoed, “Hairstyle plus dress looks 55 years old, shame.. 😮”

In response to the many comments made about Clarkson’s hair and dress making her look older than she is, one fan came to her defense.

“All y’all saying she looks 50 and old. 50 is not old. Look at Jlo and Salma, Jen Aniston and etc. they are all in their 50s. Bunch of hateful people on here. She looks great and her business about her weight loss [is] no one’s business and she did it for health reasons,” the admirer clapped back.

Other people simply expressed surprise at the fact that Clarkson went back to being a brunette as opposed to her usual blonde color: “wait am I looking at this wrong? did she go back to dark hair?! also congrats! so well deserved!” Another person added, “What are you brunette again !?!?”

On the other hand, a bunch of Clarkson’s fans uplifted her with praise and compliments. They also congratulated her on her Emmy win. “Well deserved! And so glad you’re in a better physical and mental space,” expressed a fan.

Someone else gushed, “Congratulations Kelly and you look fantastic and beautiful!” “Looks stunning,” another fan penned.

When it comes to her style, Clarkson’s stylist, Micaela Erlanger, revealed that the star tends to be very practical. “We re-wear things that we love. If we have a pair of shoes that we love, we wear them again,” Erlanger disclosed to a media outlet in April.

Concerning how the public generally reacts to Clarkson’s ensembles, barring a few criticisms—like the recent opinions asserted by some—Erlanger says people have been nothing but positive.

“It’s so sweet and supportive. It just feels good to know that people are inspired or appreciate the work that we do, and it’s so wonderful,” Erlanger swooned.

Eager fans of the “Stronger” musician who wait in anticipation to see which look Clarkson rocks next can look forward to the Olympics 2024 Paris Games for NBC. She is set to co-host the upcoming event and her outfit will, of course, be styled by Erlanger, who says she has a few surprises in store.

In addition to the Olympics event, Clarkson has other big things lined up concerning her career, which she told ET’s Deidre Behar while at the Emmys. However, those plans, unfortunately, do not include replacing Katy Perry as a judge on “American Idol.”

Although it’s something Clarkson’s fans have been wanting, the artist has a valid reason for why she is unable to fill the slot.

“I can’t do that, only because I promised my kids. I was like, ‘I wanna be there as much as I possibly can.’ And it would put me in L.A., and that’s why I had to quit ‘The Voice,’ which I love that team. And I miss them so much,” she divulged.

In 2023, Clarkson got candid in addressing the reason behind her exit from “The Voice.” She conveyed that she was going through some struggles and found it hard to be jovial, which then resulted in her relocating herself and her children, River Rose and Remington Blackstock, out of necessity.

“I wanted a life for us. And we enjoy the park every day and we enjoy each other. As a parent— people get this — you only get so much time until they don’t want to hang out with you,” Clarkson said while speaking with Behar. The trio moved to New York from Los Angeles.

The recent insight Kelly Clarkson gave about her life is not the first instance she has divulged personal information. The doting mom of two has been an open book about most, if not everything, regarding her life, like when she discussed her weight loss journey with iconic silver screen actress Whoopi Goldberg on her show.

During the show’s segment, the “Sister Act” star first revealed her use of a popular weight loss injection to shed pounds. Clarkson, who revealed that her heaviest weight was 203 pounds at five feet and three inches tall, admitted to using a drug as well, but not the well-known injection, Ozempic.

“Mine is a different one that people assume, but I – I ended up having to do that too,” Clarkson revealed. “Everyone thinks it’s Ozempic. It’s not, it’s something else. But it’s – it’s something that aids in helping break down the sugar,” she continued.

The revelation sparked a flurry of reactions online, showcasing a mix of support, curiosity, and criticism. “All these celebs that are supposed to be role models saying they lost weight through ‘clean eating, working out everyday, will power’ BS [sic],” an upset person wrote.

A second speculated, “I wonder what meds she is taking then,” while a third expressed, “Shame on her for not telling what drug she is taking for her weight loss.”

Yet, some responses highlighted a shift toward understanding: “She led people on so I’m glad she finally admitted it.” Another appreciated Clarkson’s candor: “I respect her for admitting it.”

Others advocated for Clarkson’s right to privacy with their responses, writing, “This is HER business and her choice!” and “It’s really no one’s business, though.”

The support continued with other social media users emphasizing the longstanding relationship between celebrities and medical assistance for personal enhancements.

“Stars have been using pharmaceuticals for decades. Let her live her best life,” claimed one person. Another agreed, asserting, “Her body. Her choice.” Clarkson’s revelation undoubtedly came as a shock to many as she previously highlighted diet and exercise as the reason for her slimming down.
