The Los Angeles Lakers have announced JJ Redick as their new head coach, marking him as the 29th head coach in the franchise’s storied history.
The 40-year-old former NBA player has signed a four-year contract with an annual salary around $8 million, although specific terms were not disclosed.

Redick, who enjoyed a 15-year NBA career, is recognized for his sharp shooting and high basketball IQ.
He played for multiple teams including Dallas, New Orleans, Philadelphia, the LA Clippers, Milwaukee, and Orlando.
Notably, he was part of 14 teams that made it to the NBA Playoffs and ranks 20th all-time in made three-pointers.

Despite having no prior professional or collegiate coaching experience, Redick has been involved in the basketball world as an analyst for ESPN and a co-host of a podcast with LeBron James.

Redick has expressed a strong desire to transition into coaching, having interviewed for other head coaching positions before the Lakers appointment.
