Barcelona claimed the Joan Gamper Trophy on Tuesday night, with three late goals in the final 10 minutes helping them to a 4-2 victory over Tottenham.

The Blaugrana entered the match having not lost the traditional curtain-raiser since 2012, and it didn’t take long for them to open the scoring as they found the back of the net with their first chance after three minutes. Raphinha clipped a cross to the back post from the right side which found Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish striker let the ball bounce and then lashed home past a helpless Guglielmo Vicario to put the home side in front. Barcelona very nearly doubled their lead minutes later when a mistake by the Tottenham backline saw the ball fall to Raphinha, only for the Brazilian to fire over the bar.

Although the home side controlled proceedings from there, it was Tottenham who levelled the score in the 24th minute. Sergio Reguilon played the ball into the box after scampering down the left, and after Giovani Lo Celso‘s effort came back off the post, Oliver Skipp fired home the rebound.

Skipp doubled his tally and put Spurs ahead in the 37th minute. The 22-year-old beat Frenkie De Jong to Ivan Perisic‘s cross in the box, and he sent his header past Marc-Andre ter Stegen and into the roof of the net.

The second half resumed with neither side making a major breakthrough. Ter Stegen was forced into a diving save on a Pedro Porro effort, and the German managed to just get his leg to it.

From there Barcelona made several subs, bringing on the likes of Ansu Fati and Ilkay Gundogan, which swung momentum in their favor.

The moves paid off, as Barcelona found the equalizer in the 81st minute. Substitute Yamine Lamal controlled a lazy ball over the top before squaring it for Ferran Torres, who was left with an easy finish inside the penalty area.

The comeback was completed soon after in the 90th minute.. Marcos Alonso sent Ansu Fati behind the Spurs defence, with the Spaniard sending a powerful effort past Vicario.

All doubts were put to bed soon after when Abdessamad Ezzalzouli sealed the victory in stoppage time to give Barcelona a 4-2 victory in the pre-season clash.
