The Los Angeles Lakers are now 3-5 to start the 2023/24 NBA season, following a heavy 128-94 defeat to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
They were without Anthony Davis for this one, due to an injury, and LeBron James explained afterwards that this team is struggling because of all the line-up changes, most of which are due to injuries.

“We can’t build cohesion if we don’t have our unit,” he said.
“It’s that simple. We’re very depleted on the injury side.”
Asked if he has an opinion on the structure of the roster, LeBron James gave a surprising answer.
“I don’t have an assessment,” he replied.
Others in the Lakers share LeBron James’ concerns
The superstar wasn’t the only one to express concern about the absences.
“Every day, we have a different line-up, we play with different guys and new guys come in,” Rui Hachimura said.
“It’s almost like we have a trade every day, you know?”
Coach Darvin Ham also agreed that there is too much rotation, but admitted that the Lakers can’t feel sorry for themselves.
“It is tough, as we’re juggling different circumstances, with guys being in and out of the line-up, but no one’s going to feel sorry for you, especially when you’re a Los Angeles Laker,” he said.
“So, our biggest thing now is to go into Phoenix on Friday and just be the hardest-working, most competitive and most together team on the floor for 48 minutes.”
