A busy road in Kirklees has been closed following a landslip earlier today (Fri).

Stoney Battery Road in Milnsbridge is closed in both directions to “ensure the safety of road users whilst investigations take place”, Kirklees Council has said. Diversion routes will soon be put in place and residents and businesses will receive further information directly, a spokesperson for the council has confirmed .

Images shared online show that the side of the road has completely collapsed, with rubble falling onto what appears to be a number of storage containers below.

It is not yet known how long the road will remain closed for. Yorkshire Live has contacted Kirklees Council for further information.
