A major West Yorkshire Road has been closed following a collision.

The head-on collision happened overnight on Friday and is said to have involved a car and a bus. Traffic system Inrix said the A646 Burnley Road in Brearley has been closed in both directions due to the earlier collision between Moderna Way and Ellen Royd Lane.

There is congestion to Midgley Road and Town Gate and traffic is being directed around the closure.

Inrix said: “A646 Burnley Road in both directions closed due to earlier accident, a car and a bus involved between Moderna Way and Ellen Royd Lane. Congestion to Midgley Road and Town Gate as traffic diverts around the closure.

“The accident occurred overnight, head on collision.”

West Yorkshire Police has been contacted.
