The club are preparing for a post-Jurgen Klopp era and already thinking through their first signings for Arne Slot

Meanwhile, the Magpies are expected to offload at least one key player this summer in order to comply with the Premier League‘s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

 The player in question is Anthony Gordon. 

Gordon, 23, joined Newcastle from Everton for £45million in January 2023 and has become one of their top performers after a sluggish start. 

He has broken into Gareth Southgate‘s England side ahead of Euro 2024 thanks to an impressive campaign with 11 goals and 11 assists.

News of his Liverpool link comes less than a month after he admitted that Steven Gerrard was his idol growing up on Gary Neville‘s The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet

Gordon was a Liverpool fan as a youngster but was released by the club aged 11 and joined Everton, where he became a first-teamer. 

He made 78 appearances over six seasons for The Toffees and was a key player in his final 18 months there.
