Logan Paul, the YouTube sensation turned WWE superstar, has claimed his first championship title in the wrestling world. Paul, who is known for his athleticism and ability to produce highlight-reel moments, won the United States title at WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
Despite being a familiar face in the WWE ring, Paul’s victory was a significant milestone in his career. The 26-year-old had to resort to sneaky tactics to overcome his vastly more experienced opponent, Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. Paul ate a 619 — Mysterio’s finisher move — but he did it with a clear cheat that the referee never saw: Paul hit him with some brass knuckles, thereby securing his first WWE title.
The WWE took to social media to celebrate Paul’s victory, calling it a “SOCIAL MEDIA MEGA MOMENT!” The video of Paul defeating Mysterio has since gone viral, garnering millions of views and reactions from fans worldwide.
Paul’s win comes after an impressive run of eight matches in the WWE, including his debut at WrestleMania 38 last year, where he defeated Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio in a tag team match with The Miz.
He also challenged Roman Reigns for the undisputed WWE universal championship at Crown Jewel in 2022, took part in the Royal Rumble, battled Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 39, participated in Money in the Bank, and most recently defeated Ricochet by similar means.
