Luton Town’s search for a second Premier League win of the season continues when they host high-flying Tottenham in Saturday’s early kick-off.

The Hatters earned an important victory in their visit to fellow strugglers Everton but were beaten by Burnley in a relegation three-pointer in midweek.

Spurs, who have no European football to contend with this term, were the beneficiaries of some awful refereeing during their late 2-1 victory over Liverpool last weekend.

Here’s 90min‘s rundown of the first Premier League fixture of gameweek eight.

Defender Amari’i Bell was substituted during Luton’s defeat to Burnley and an update is expected from manager Rob Edwards before Saturday.

Ross Barkley hasn’t played since 1 September and has a hamstring problem, while the likes of Jordan Clark, Gabriel Osho, Daniel Potts and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all unavailable.

Luton predicted lineup vs Tottenham (5-3-2): Kaminski; Kabore, Mengi, Lockyer, Burke, Doughty; Mpanzu, Nakamba, Chong; Ogbene, Morris.

Another Spurs winger suffered a long-term injury in midweek as Manor Solomon was sidelined during training, joining Ivan Perisic and Brennan Johnson in the treatment room.

Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso are also absent, with boss Ange Postecoglou likely to stick with the starting XI that began the victory over Liverpool.

Tottenham predicted lineup vs Luton (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Maddison, Richarlison; Son.

Tottenham approach the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday as firm favourites for a win that would put them at the top of the division ahead of Manchester City’s meeting with Arsenal on Sunday.

Spurs have managed wins over two of the three promoted sides already this season, thrashing Burnley 5-2 away and squeezing past Sheffield United 2-1 at home, and their quality in the final third should be too much for Edwards and Town to deal with.

The last three league meetings at Kenilworth Road between these two sides have ended goalless, but there is little danger of that run of results – which spanned from 1989 to 1992 – stretching to a fourth game.

Prediction: Luton 1-3 Tottenham
