The M62 is completely shut near Huddersfield following an accident which happened overnight.

The crash was first reported at around 2.30am on Saturday and the motorway remains closed in both directions this morning. Both carriageways are shut to drivers between Junction 22 (Rishworth Moor) and Junction 24 (Ainley Top).

There is “congestion to the A672 Oldham Road towards Ripponden as traffic diverts.”

In a tweet at 2.30am uploaded to X, National Highways said: “The M62 is closed in both directions between J22 and J24 due to a collision.”
