One driver is thought to have been injured in a crash involving a van and two other vehicles on the M62.

Police, ambulance crews and firefighters attended the collision close to the Ainley Top junction, near Huddersfield, just after 10am this morning.

The crash led to long tailbacks and delays of around one hour for those drivers caught in the congestion by the motorway closure. Read more about the breaking incident here.

The eastbound carriageway was closed as the emergency services dealt with the incident and cleared up the debris. Motorway traffic cameras showed a white van was involved in the collision.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called to junction 24 of the M62 eastbound at 10.06am today to a report of a collision involving a van and two other vehicles. One driver reported suffering potential injuries.

“Emergency services have attended the incident which has resulted in a closure of the carriageway at the location while the incident is managed.” All the lanes were reopened after around two hours but the long delays continued.
