Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo became the first teenagers to score in an FA Cup final since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2004 after earning victory over Manchester City on Saturday.

Garnacho was the first to find the net, putting his side ahead on the 30 minute mark. The lead remained in the hands of the Red Devils and was soon doubled as Mainoo made it 2-0 just 9 minutes later.

A strike came from City’s Jeremy Doku in the latter stages of the game, but United remained composed until the final whistle.

Two of Erik ten Hag’s youngest players proved to be the most vital at Wembley, gifting the Red Devils a chance to lift silverware.

They also managed to match United legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s achievement in becoming the first teenagers to score in an FA Cup final since the Portugal international did against Millwall in 2004.

Mainoo added another accolade to his belt, becoming the first English teenager to score since West Ham’s John Sissons, who scored against Preston North End in the 1964 final.

The duo also made history, as for the first time in an FA Cup final, two teenagers etched their names onto the scoresheet.

United’s success marked Ten Hag’s second trophy during his reign at Old Trafford, in a game that could be his last with the Red Devils. The team were also able to secure a place in the Europa League for next season, despite finishing outside of the top six.

Manchester City missed out on the chance to earn a domestic double, after lifting the Premier League trophy just one week earlier.
