Hector Herrera spoke exclusively to MARCA in Washington, DC while preparing to face Premier League’s Arsenal next Wednesday at 8:30 pm ET in the MLS All-Star Game.
Herrera or HH as many call him, is one of the league’s top players and had some welcoming words for the newest addition to the MLS: Leo Messi.
The Houston Dynamo midfielder congratulated Mexico on their Gold Cup championship. He hoped that El Tri’s triumph under the leadership of Jaime Lozano would be “a new path for everyone”. Lozano has the vote of confidence from Herrera who has already played 104 games for the Mexican national team.

What do you think about Leo Messi’s arrival in MLS?
“I have said it on other occasions. It is the arrival of the best player in the world right now and for many years to come.” He said with a big smile.
“You saw him yesterday at the presentation, he is very excited about his arrival and it is going to be very good for the league. It’s an honor to have him here and to be able to face him once again. Let’s hope he’s happy and that he gets all the love he deserves.” He concluded about the World Cup Champion.

How did you feel about Mexico winning the Gold Cup?
“It was very important. To be able to vindicate ourselves along the way, to be able to win the Gold Cup again. It was the main objective and the most important thing for Mexico.”

Herrera had a message for the fans “Congratulations to all those who participated and who were supporting us from the outside. We can only thank them and it is something that will develop a lot of confidence for the Mexican team and the Mexican fans.” He added while also praising Jimmy Lozano.
When addressing the tenure of Jimmy Lozano on Mexico’s National Team, he said that the he believes he will stay as Head Coach as the people are happy with his work.
