Lionel Messi‘s introduction as an Inter Miami player has been delayed indefinitely as storms batter the Miami area.
Rain, thunder, and lightning are pelting the Miami-Fort Lauderdale Metropolitan Area, with the storm poised to continue Sunday night — jeopardizing Messi’s official unveiling in Major League Soccer.
Messi was due to be unveiled in a Sunday night presentation at Fort Lauderdale’s DRV PNK Stadium. But fans and gathering journalists were soon pelted with rain, and high winds made the presentation unfeasible. Media and members of the public were told to return to their vehicles and wait for further updates.
Officially, the event has only been delayed, but it is highly likely the unveiling will ultimately be postponed. A cancellation also cannot be ruled out.
