The friendly game at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field between Mexico and Germany kicked off with excitement, featuring promising moments on both ends of the field.

Before the five-minute mark, there were already dangerous plays near Guillermo Ochoa and Marc-André Ter Stegen’s goals.

Mexico’s defensive line stood up to the challenge posed by Julian Nagelsmann’s side’s excellent ball circulation.

It was no surprise that the Mannschaft would go on to score the first goal of the game.

Real Madrid defender, Antonio Rüdiger, seized an opportunity when the Mexican defense momentarily lost focus during a corner kick when a ball deflection to the far post left him unmarked.

In the 26th minute, Santiago Giménez from Feyenoord found himself unmarked and just as he was about to pull the trigger, he went down, claiming a push from the goal scorer, Rüdiger.

Many immediately called for a penalty, but the former Cruz Azul player was slowing down his run, waiting for contact and the game continued.

In another noteworthy action, Ochoa, as the emblem of Mexican resilience, was already making impressive saves when Thomas Müller beat him. However, Müller was offside, and the goal didn’t count.

At the 36th minute, the Mexican fans in Philadelphia finally roared with delight as El Tri scored their first goal.

It was the result of a brilliant play by Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano, who set up Uriel Antuna in the middle of the penalty area.

He essentially served the goal to the Cruz Azul player.

The intensity of the match was momentarily halted by the referee’s whistle, signaling the end of the first half, but excitement was guaranteed for the second half.

The match slowed down in the second half

For Germany, Leon Goretzka and Niclas Fullkrügg came on as substitutes for Pascal Gross and Thomas Muller, while Jimmy Lozano made no changes at the start of the second half.

El Tri scored their second goal immediately after the half making it 2-1, courtesy of “Chiquito” Sánchez, assisted by Antuna.

The game clock was at the 46-minute mark when the well-placed cross from outside the small box caught Ter Stegen off guard.

Germany settled the draw

However, just four minutes later, in the 50th minute, Fullkrüg, the substitute, equalized with a powerful counter-attack when he found the ball in the box after Sané’s header was deflected by Ochoa on the goal line.

Malick Thiaw came on for Sülle, and Hoffman and Raum were also sent onto the field by Germany.

On the Mexican side, Sebastián Córdova and Luis Sánchez were substituted in at the 62nd minute.

However, these changes only slowed down the game’s pace, and the score remained unchanged, even with Henry Martin on the field, who replaced Giménez.

Nevertheless, this match marked a significant turning point in Jaime Lozano’s tenure as the head of El Tri.
