Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons punched teammate Tyler Biadasz during practice on Wednesday, three weeks after Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce did something similar.
While many may think fights are indicative of poor locker room chemistry, it’s actually a blessing in disguise. Both the Chiefs and Cowboys are Super Bowl contenders ready to start the season.
Getting these kinks worked out ahead of the start of the upcoming NFL season is better than having to deal with it larer on in the year.
Parsons, 24, has yet to comment on the three punches he landed on the Cowboys center, but the intense competitor likely regrets nothing.
Kelce, 33, admitted he needed to be a better teammate after punching linebacker Jack Cochrane in the end zone during practice.
Patrick Mahomes understands the competitive fire
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes did not overreact to Kelce punching a teammate and instead understands it was just part of the competitive fire to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
“I think we all have it. We have a lot of guys out here that are super competitive, but it’s about just doing it the right way,” Mahomes said. “Trav (Travis Kelce) punching the guy, not necessarily the way you want to do it, but you love the fire. You love the fire on both sides of the ball.”
Each of the two aforementioned scuffles were between offensive and defensive players, so it’s just part of the game, and nothing personal.
Parsons is eager to win the Super Bowl this year and sets the tone when it comes to aggression. Perhaps a Kelce vs. Parsons fight breaks out at this season’s championship game. Rob Gronkowski believes Cowboys have enough to make it to the big game and possibly win the whole thing.
