Teams around Major League Soccer continue to revamp their rosters with pre-season activities set to begin later this month ahead of the 2024 season.

Colorado Rapids waived two Scotland internationals, while the Revs were able to re-sign a veteran forward to their attacking unit. The Black and Gold’s defense is looking weaker and weaker after Giorgio Chiellini’s retirement and an important full-back leaving the club on a free transfer.

Here are the latest MLS transfers you may have missed.

New England Revolution have re-signed forward Emmanuel Boateng to a one-year contract through the 2024 MLS campaign with an option for 2025.

The 29-year-old joined the Revs ahead of the 2021 season after stints with LA Galaxy, DC United and Columbus Crew and helped the Eastern Conference side capture the 2021 Supporters’ Shield.

Boateng has tallied six goals and eight assists in 77 appearances for the Revs, playing primarily as a left-winger but also as a second striker from time to time.

“Ema Boateng has been an important contributor to our attack and has been a productive player in our league throughout his entire career,” New England sporting director Curt Onalfo said in a release.

“We are pleased to have Ema return to the club and look forward to seeing him on the field with the rest of the team as we get preseason training underway this month.”

Colorado Rapids have waived Scottish duo Danny Wilson and Sam Nicholson in their preparations for the 2024 season.

Nicholson, a winger, joined Colorado in May 2018 before spending two seasons at Bristol Rovers from July 2020-June 2022 and then re-joined the Western Conference side in the summer of 2022. He totaled 11 goal involvements in 91 appearances for the Rapids.

Wilson joined the Rapids in January 2018, and he went on to make 147 appearances while adding five goals as a defender.

“We’d like to thank Danny and Sam for their contributions on and off the field during their time at the club. We wish them both all the best in their future endeavors,” Rapids president Padraig Smith said in a release.

Diego Palacios departs LAFC after four-and-a-half seasons at BMO Stadium with the Black and Gold.

The 24-year-old helped LAFC capture the Supporters’ Shield in 2019 and 2022 as well as their first MLS Cup in 2022 over Philadelphia Union. He quickly became one of the best, if not the best, left-backs in MLS that kept LAFC at the top of the Western Conference table.

Palacios leaves LAFC in third on the all-time appearances list with 132 as a full-back, leaving a huge hole in Steve Cherundolo’s starting XI ahead of the 2024 campaign.
