A Chicago homeowner was seen chasing and fighting off a would-be burglar around his neighborhood wielding a kitchen utensil as a weapon in a newly released video.

CCTV footage shows Jason Williams running behind the suspect and banging their head with a heavyweight frying pan at around 3.30pm yesterday.

Williams was minutes away from getting home from work when he received an alert from his alarm system that someone had broken in.

‘Came in the house, I looked if there was an available weapon… there was a frying pan laying there, so I grabbed the frying pan and at the same time the burglar came downstairs.

‘At this point, it was fight or flight, and I would rather do the fighting,’ Williams told ABC.

‘At this point, it was fight or flight, and I would rather do the fighting,’ Williams said in an interview

Video shows the brave owner chasing the suspect while waving the frying pan in the air on his lawn.

‘Get out of here, I’m gonna kill you,’ Williams can be heard yelling as the intruder runs for their life.

In a scene straight from a TV cartoon, Williams ultimately ends up taking a satisfying swing at the suspect and leaving them completely shaken up as cops arrived at the scene.

The intruder is seen trying to race across the street after the painful blow before eventually gives up and is handcuffed.

Sharing the video and pictures of the heroic pan, Williams wrote on X: ‘Here’s the guy that tried to burgler[sic] me. He’s lucky the cops came. I was putting a good beating on him.. he owes me a new frying pan!’

He also posted a photo of the burglar seemingly holding his head as he was placed into the back of an ambulance

‘This could have had a different ending, and I’m glad it had a good one. My wife’s not happy about the decision I made… probably wouldn’t do it again, but it is what it is,’ he further told the channel.

Chicago police confirmed that the intruder was taken in custody, however it is unclear if he has been charged.
