Victor Wembanyama is the most anticipated NBA rookie since LeBron James, and his start to life in the league is already leading people to suggest he will be the best player of all time.

Of course, there is hyperbole here, but his production early on for the San Antonio Spurs has been impressive.

Wembanyama striving to break all sorts of records in the NBA this season

It is perhaps the blend of physical attributes and technical talent that makes him such an intriguing individual.

Standing at over seven feet, Wembanyama can outjump anyone, he can block almost any shot or layup attempt and he is also able to dribble the ball exceptionally, like a point guard.

His three-point range is phenomenal too. The scary thing is that if you were building a ‘cheat’ custom player in an NBA video game, Victor Wembanyama would virtually be what you’d end up with.

What are NBA personnel saying about Victor Wembanyama?

FOX Sports have looked at the start of Wembanyama‘s NBA career and have asked a number of executives, coaches and scouts for their thoughts on the Frenchman.

The overriding conclusion is that he is the most unique prospect to ever arrive in the league, and he could well be the next Wilt Chamberlain, such is his unique physique and body shape.

It’s no surprise that those in-and-around the NBA are speaking glowingly about Wembanyama, with the youngster living up to the billing.

“He’s exactly what we thought he would be,” were the words of one unnamed Western Conference assistant coach in a discussion with FOX Sports.

“He’s a stud. By his third year, he’s in the conversation for best player in the league.”

That was just one view, as several others also spoke glowingly about Wembanyama.

“Because he plays both ends, he will have the ability to be incredibly impactful pretty fast, added a Western Conference general manager.

There are reasons to slam on the handbrake at this juncture, especially with Wembanyama being so young.

Things can happen away from basketball that influence development, whereas injuries can derail even the most prodigious of talents.

With that being said, if none of that occurs in his case, those in and around the NBA believe he is on the highway to being the best ever.

“He’s going to be the best to ever play this game,” concluded one former NBA player and current front-office executive in an interview with FOX Sports.
