New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara and Indianapolis Colts CB Chris Lammons were in violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Their offense was a battery arrest that took place in February 2022 in Las Vegas. Legally speaking, Kamara put the matter to rest after solving it back on July 11 this year. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of breach of peace. As a sentence, the RB served 30 hours of community service and will pay victim Darrell Greene a reported $105,196.17 due to past medical expenses. Kamara also paid a $500 fine and the plea prevented him from getting a potential battery charge that would’ve put him in prison for five years.
The NFL reaches a decision on Kamara
Now that the legal issues were resolved, the player had been impatiently waiting for the NFL’s disciplinary resolution. Both he and Lammons have been officially suspended for three games at the start of the NFL season. They won’t be eligible to play until Week 4 of the season. The Saints face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on that day but Kamara will miss the games against the Titans, Panthers, and Packers. The player also reportedly met with Commissioner Roger Goodell earlier in the week in New York to discuss more details of the incident. On Friday, the player made a public statement about the entire incident.
After the meeting, the player revealed that the meeting with Commissioner Goodell went well and he vowed to avoid that kind of trouble in the future. He said: “I never want to be involved in something where someone gets hurt or severely injured or anything. Poor judgement on my end. Definitely a bad decision. I was completely wrong. I embarrassed the Saints, I embarrassed my family and my mother. I embarrassed myself, embarrassed the city, and the shield, obviously, embarrassed the NFL.” Kamara and Lammons were charged for punching and kicking Greene right outside a Las Vegas nightclub during the 2022 Pro Bowl weekend. All of the accused were arrested right after the game.
