Nikola Jokic, star of the defending NBA champions the Denver Nuggets, identified Victor Wembanyama as an era-defining player as he declared that the San Antonio Spurs’ center will revolutionize basketball.
The 19-year-old is regarded as the hottest prospect to enter the league since LeBron James in 2003 and is tipped to potentially end up as good as James and Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls.

Now following their 131-120 victory over the Spurs, Jokic is the latest name to add to the growing list of admirers of the youngster, who put up 22 points, 11 rebounds and two assists in the defeat.
“He is going to change the game 100 percent,” Jokic, the 2023 NBA Finals MVP said of the Frenchman. “He’s already on the path, so for all the guys, just enjoy and watch the show and let the guy change the game.
“I think he’s 19 years old. He’s not getting scared or getting tired. He’s playing hard,
and he wants to be good. As I said, he’s playing hard and doesn’t take it for granted.
“He’s making mistakes, which is normal. I think the media around him doesn’t help, but he needs to get used to it because he is only 19.”
Wembanyama is currently averaging 19 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game and 2.6 assists per game in his first season after being selected as the overall first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Jokic, however, did remind the prospect of who is boss at the moment as he fell one point shy of a triple-double by scoring a staggering 39 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists in the win.
Jokic is averaging 28.2 points per game, 13.5 rebounds per game and 8.9 assists per game as he bids to defend his NBA crown and status as Finals MVP.

The Nuggets next take on the Los Angeles Clippers in California on Monday, November 27, as they bid to close up to the Western Conference leaders, the Minnesota Timberwolves, whom they’re 1.5 games behind.

The Spurs have now lost 12 games straight in the Western Conference, leaving them rooted bottom of the standings with a .176 winning percentage.
