The Pittsburgh Penguins “parted ways” with assistant coach Todd Reirden on Friday, May 3, in a decision that came just two weeks after the franchise failed to make the playoffs for the second consecutive season after falling three points short in the standings.
While not as important and established as head coach Mike Sullivan, Reirden was in charge of the team’s power play and had already spent time with the Penguins from 2010 to 2014.
Reirden later joined the Washington Capitals, a franchise he helmed as the head coach from 2018 to 2020.
